SMARTCHEK® Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Detection Kit is an RT-PCR diagnostic kit for the detection of RdRP and N genes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Among one of its main characteristics is that it provides results in 45 minutes. This test is intended for professional use and designed to be used in conjunction with GENECHECKER® UF-300 Real-time PCR System device, a state-of-the-art platform developed by Genesystem. Each SMARTCHEK® kit contains all the necessary reagents to analyze multiple samples simultaneously.

Unlike conventional RT-PCR, SMARTCHEK® is a method based on microfluidic biochips, which reduces handling by the user, considerably simplifying workflow and reducing the risk of sample contamination.

SMARTCHEK® Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) detection Kit is designed for the diagnosis and identification of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and should be performed by a healthcare professional. It is especially indicated for:

  • Reduce time for determining the sample in an RT-PCR analysis prior to medical intervention.
  • Small or medium-sized laboratories, where the space to work is limited.

It is a different method from conventional RT-PCR, based on microfluidic biochips that contain the necessary components for the polymerase reaction. This format allows to reduce handling  by the user, simplify the workflow and reduce the risk of contamination of the sample.

Authorized healthcare personnel must collect a nasal or nasopharyngeal sample with a specific swab. Next, we briefly indicate the steps to follow:

  1. Processing of the sample in the laboratory: extraction of viral RNA (not included in the kit).
  2. Prepare the reaction mix for PCR (3 minutes).
  3. Loading the reaction mix onto biochips (2 minutes).
  4. Insert sample with all reagents in GENECHECKER® and carry out RT-PCR (40 minutes).

The RT-PCR test is indicated to be performed in the following situations:

  • Obtain a quick result in preoperative checkups.
  • Detect infected people before the symptoms of the infection begin to appear.
  • Check a person has already passed the infection, giving a negative result.
